1c Franklin Type Ia single — used; blue cancellation; position 97R4; "Curl in C of CENT" variety — Type Ia has a complete design at the bottom, as does Type I, but the top edge of the design has been trimmed off. Type Ia is found only on eighteen of the twenty bottom row positions from Plate 4. It is one of the rarest types of the 1-cent imperforate issue.
